Females, the kitchen, and “woman’s work" has long been subject matter for feminist art and discourse. In this series I explore the humor and fantasy of the domestic female. A woman wearing a cropped blonde wig, red lips and high heels performs unusual domestic rituals. She emerges from a dryer, gazes longingly at the burners on the stove, wears birds in her hair as she prepares to salt her dinner, and sits as though she were a statue holding table candles. Her interaction with these domestic objects highlights our continued cultural attachment to female stereotypes and fantasies.
